Devices

The Devices screen is used to search for and view available input devices, such as badge readers. Devices are used for badging into the system, for tracking attendance at Education Tracking classes, for use with the DeductIT feature, etc.

Devices can be assigned to organization units and/or employees as authorized badging areas.

If the employee badges at an unauthorized device, an exception message prints during the calculations process.

Record Management

Depending on the user's authorization level, the following actions may be available. Note: The options listed below are not available for some screens.

Software Classification

Active

Indicates whether this is an input device that is currently active and in use (Yes/No).

Description

An alphanumeric description identifying the input device (for example, the location of this device).

Hardware Classification

The type of hardware used by this input device as selected from the Field Look Up Values.

Input Classification

Indicates the type of input used by this device (i.e. magnetic stripe, barcode, fingerprint, iClass, proximity, etc.).

Number

The numeric value identifying this input device.

Organization Unit

Select the appropriate code for this field. The number of organization unit levels available and the organization unit names displayed depend upon the corporate structure.

Online

Indicates whether this input device is linked to the network (Yes). An example of an input device that is NOT online (No) is a portable education tracking reader that is moved to a classroom for employees to badge into a class.

Printer Name

The name of the printer used by this device, if applicable.

Software Classification

The software application using this input device (e.g. DeductIT, Education Tracking, or Time and Attendance).
