Assign the Authorization Roles
The following standard roles (or their equivalent replicated roles) are required to set up and to use Open Shift Notification.
- SS Administrator and MDC Administrator (configure the settings noted in this guide)
- SS Staffer (send staffing request messages via the Broadcast feature)
The following role (or its equivalent replicated role) is required by staff to receive and reply to broadcast messages.
- MDC Employee (assigned to an employee or an organization unit)
Assign roles to administrators, managers, and schedulers
To assign an Open Shift Notification role, complete the following steps.
- Navigate to the Employee section.
- Search for and open the desired employee.
- Under Employee Sections, click Roles.
- Under Role Actions, click Add.
- Click in the Authorization Role Code field and select the appropriate role from the Field Look Up Values list.
- SS Administrator
- MDC Administrator
- SS Staffer
- Click Save.
- Under Role Assignment Sections, click Data Access and then Add Org Unit Access.
- Select the highest-level organization unit that the manager has access to, and then click Save.
- Click Add Emp - Org Unit Access.
- Select the highest-level organization unit that the manager has access to, and then click Save.
- Continue adding the needed data access for any remaining access buttons, such as Add PayCode - Org Unit Access.
Assign the MDC Employee role to employees
Tip: The role can be assigned to individual employees or an entire organization unit. For organization units, use the parts of the steps in parentheses.
To assign the MDC role, complete the following steps.
- Navigate to the Employee section (or Configuration section > Organization Unit card > Organization Unit screen).
- Search for and open the desired employee (or organization unit).
- Under Employee (or Organization Unit) Sections, click Roles.
- Under Role Actions, click Add.
- Click in the Authorization Role Code field, and select the MDC Employee role from the Field Look Up Values list.
- Click Save.
