Steps for Adding a Supervisor Who Cannot Approve His/Her Own Requests
Complete the following steps to set up supervisors who are allowed to approve all employees in their own home labor distribution, and are allowed to edit their own transaction requests, but cannot approve their own transaction requests. Step one must be completed in the employee record of the supervisor. The remaining steps can either be set up in the employee record or in this Supervisor Assignments screen.

Each of these steps are described in more detail below.
Step 1: Add the Required Roles to the Supervisor's Employee Record
- From the Employee section, search for the employee record of the supervisor.
- Click on the Roles screen.
- Enter the Roles required by this supervisor for the various assignments (for example, they may need a role granting Approver status to some organization units and/or employees and a role granting Editor status to other organization units and/or employees. Step 2: Set up the User as a Supervisor
- From the Configuration section>Employee card, select the Supervisor Assignment screen.
- Click on the Add button to add a new record.
- The Employee Search screen is displayed to search for the employee to add as a supervisor. Enter the search criteria, then click on the Search button.
- Check the box to the left of the supervisor name to select the record.
Note: Only employees who have already been set up with Supervisor roles are displayed on the results listing in this screen. If an employee has already been set up as a supervisor, his/her record is not available in this screen, but must be selected from the Supervisor Search screen. Enter the Supervisor Last Name, Supervisor First Name and Supervisor Code to search for the record.
The employee identification code of the supervisor.
The first name of the assigned supervisor.
The last name of the assigned supervisor.
Step 3: Assign the Supervisor a Role with Approver Rights to the Organization Unit(s)
- Click on the Add Org Unit Assignment button.
- In the organization fields, enter the Trunk, Branch, and Leaf (optional) Organization Unit levels of the organization unit where the supervisor is to have approval rights. The options available depend on the structure of your organization.
Select the organization levels that this employee is authorized to access. Depending on your corporate structure, you may have several levels displayed in this table.

- Select the Classification option from the drop down menu to limit the results of the Authorization Role Code. For example, if Standard is selected for this field, only standard roles will be displayed. Leave this field blank to include all classification options.
Determines the type of system classification (e.g.standard, customer, user-defined, replicated) of the role. The Classification field must be filled in before the Authorization roles (linked to the Classification field) are displayed in the Field Look Up Values.
- Select the appropriate Authorization Role Code (from the right pane). Make sure this role has an authorization level of Approver to allow the supervisor to approve all employees in the home labor distribution.
Determines the type of system classification (e.g.standard, customer, user-defined, replicated) of the role. The Classification field must be filled in before the Authorization roles (linked to the Classification field) are displayed in the Field Look Up Values.
- Click on the Save button. The supervisor is now assigned to all employees in the organization unit.
- To assign the supervisor to additional organization units, repeat steps 1-5.
Step 4: Remove the Supervisor's Approver Rights to His/Her Own Record
- Click on the Add Employee Assignment button.
- Select the type of role Classification for this assignment from the drop down menu.
The level of access of this supervisor for the indicated organization unit or employee. Note: These roles must first be assigned to the supervisors through the Roles screen in their employee record. Then the roles are available in the Field Look Up Values.
- Select the same Authorization Role Code as assigned to the supervisor at the Organization Unit level.

- In the Denied field, enter Yes.
Indicates whether access to this employee is denied (Yes/No). This setting can be used to deny access to a single employee (e.g. another supervisor) when the supervisor is given access to an organization unit.
- Click on the Continue button in the left pane.
- The Employee Search screen is displayed to enter criteria to search for the employee record of the supervisor. Enter Search.
- Check the box to the left of the supervisor's name to select their record, and then click on the Assign Selected button.
- Click on the Assign Selected button to assign all the selected employee records.
Step 5: Assign the Supervisor's a Role with Editor Rights to His/Her Own Record
Employees may be able to edit their transactions, based on the role they inherit from the organization unit. If this role does not allow editing of transactions, the supervisor may want editing capabilities to his/her own record. Note: This step only needs to be completed if the employee role assigned to the supervisor does not grant editing rights; however, they should be allowed to edit their own information.
Complete the following steps:
- Click on the Add Employee Assignment button.
- Select the type of role Classification for this assignment from the drop down menu.

- Select an Authorization Role Code with Editor Rights.

- In the Denied field, enter No.
