Primary Home Labor Distribution

Select the Add Primary Home button to set up the Home labor distribution of the employee. The Home labor distribution of an employee determines the access Roles and processing Assignments for the employee.

An employee can only have one Primary Home labor distribution effective at one time. When a new Primary Home Labor Distribution assignment is entered, the system automatically fills in the Expiration Date field of the previous record with the day before the Effective Date of the new assignment.

Pay Group transfers

If a new Primary Home Labor Distribution is in a different Pay Group, the system automatically fills in the Pay Group Transfer Date and Time on the new Labor Distribution. The Pay Group Transfer Date and Time determine how transactions are divided within the pay period between the two Pay Groups.

Example: Facility A and Facility B are in two different Pay Groups and have two-week pay periods from March 1 to March 14. An employee transfers from Facility A to Facility B on March 5. When the new Labor Distribution is entered, the Pay Group Transfer Date and Time will be filled in with March 5 at midnight. When calculations occur, any transactions from March 1 to March 4 will apply to the Pay Group for Facility A and the remaining transactions will apply to the Pay Group for Facility B.

When a Pay Group transfer occurs, the employee will have two current Pay Period entries in the Employee Navigator on the Employee screen. For more information, see Employee Navigator.

Even though the Pay Group Transfer Date and Time are set automatically when a new Labor Distribution is entered, you can change the date and time. Using the previous example, say that the employee had a shift starting at 23:00 on March 4. The new Labor Distribution went into effect at 00:00 on March 5, but you would like the clockings from March 4 applied to the Pay Group for Facility B.

To view and update the Pay Group Transfer Date and Time, complete the following steps.

  1. Navigate to Employee > search for and open the desired employee > Employee Sections > Labor Distributions.

If you are viewing the pay period in which the Labor Distribution change occurred, you will see both Labor Distribution records. The new Labor Distribution has no Expiration Date listed.

  2. Open the new Labor Distribution record and click the Pay Group Transfer tab.

The date that initially appears is the effective date of the new Labor Distribution record, starting at midnight.

  3. As needed, click in the field to update the date and time, and then click Select.

You are limited to selecting one day before the previous pay period ends to one day after the current pay period begins.

  4. Click Save.

You can click Calc Me Now to recalculate the employee immediately or wait for the next automatic calculation.
