The System Dashboard provides a visual overview of the system performance at a glance. Review of this page provides a status of the vital portions of the system.
Monitoring the System Dashboard
The categories and the metrics within each category appear along with the number of records for each metric.
The metrics are standards of measurement. There are several metrics within each category. For example, there is a Clocking Requests Pending metric in the Posting category. Some metrics have links that you can click to view the type of transactions that generated the error.
Categories of metrics
The Posting category includes the number of records currently going through the posting process. The posting process updates the data collected from a data input device to the appropriate employee records. Data is collected from the individual badge readers, TimeCall, or Quick Badge entries, and is updated to a raw data file within the database. Each record collected is inserted with a status of new.
The Calculations category includes the number of records currently going through the calculations process. The calculations process is responsible for the assignment of employees to their Assignment Codes, the processing of employee work hours including Calendar, Clocking, and Adjustment entries, and the update of LaborView information due to changes in paid hours. This process does not distribute time cards to LaborView. As employee data is updated (such as posting a clocking, supervisor edit, employee download, etc.), a record is inserted in the Calculations queue indicating the employee needs to be processed.
The LaborView Operations category includes the number of records currently going through the process of updating LaborView information.
The Education Tracking category includes the number of records currently going through the process of updating Education Tracking information.
The Device category displays the input devices configured in the system and their statuses.
The Diagnostics category displays the uptime of the Primary Application server and the number of alerts that were generated in the Application Server and Portal Server.
Metric levels
There are up to four levels of activity for each metric. Once the number of records (as shown in the Value column) exceeds a level, a warning message appears.
Note: The cutoff value for each level of a process is set up on the Configuration section>System card>Metric Threshold screen.
Warning messages
If a value exceeds the defined threshold or level, a warning message appears. For example, if the number of Clocking Requests Pending exceeds the defined number, a message appears stating "Clocking Requests Pending threshold of 10 exceeded. (Level 2)".
